County Rd 40 Closure for Sanitary Sewer Upgrades: October 19–November 30, 2026
Updated October 16, 2026
County Road 40 will be closed to through traffic between Wellington Street and Helen Street from Monday, October 19, 2026, at 7:00 a.m. until Monday, November 30, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. as part of the Township’s water and sanitary sewer upgrades.
Local access will be maintained where construction permits, but temporary driveway restrictions may be necessary. Residents requiring vehicle access into or out of the construction area are asked to speak directly with site staff.
Why an additional closure is required
During the Stage 1 closure this summer, a labour dispute involving Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) prevented work beneath the railway tracks from being completed as scheduled. This additional closure is required to safely complete the remaining work.
These circumstances were beyond the control of the Township and the contractor. We recognize the inconvenience and appreciate the community’s continued patience and understanding.
Detour route
The detour route is via Dummer/Asphodel Boundary Road, Asphodel 11th Line and Highway 7. Please follow posted signage and allow extra travel time.
Emergency services have been notified of the closure.
Driveway access and parking
Every effort will be made to maintain access to properties. However, driveway access may be temporarily restricted when construction takes place directly in front of a property. Residents and businesses will be notified before access is blocked so vehicles can be moved.
Alternative parking may be required, including overnight, until temporary driveway access is restored. Please coordinate parking and vehicle access with site staff. No on-street parking is permitted within the construction limits.
Garbage and recycling collection
Garbage and recycling collection will continue on regular collection days.
Residents within the affected area are asked to:
- Place garbage and recycling at the curb in front of their property before 7:00 a.m. on their scheduled collection day.
- Clearly label all bins with their municipal address.
Construction crews will move materials to the designated collection area for pickup and return bins to the respective properties afterward.
Safety and accessibility
Construction involves deep excavations and heavy equipment. Please stay clear of work areas and ensure children remain a safe distance away.
If you have accessibility needs, require assistance with property access, or have questions about construction activities, please speak with site staff.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation while these important infrastructure improvements are completed.
