All mailing address changes need to be requested in writing, by the property owner, by submitting a Mailing Address Change Form. In the event that the property has become the responsibility of an executor, trustee or Power of Attorney, legal documentation must be provided to the Township along with the address change request. 

Please ensure the form is completed and signed prior to submitting. 

There are a total of four (4) tax instalments every year, they are due during the months of March, May, August, and October.

Receiving your property tax bill by e-mail will allow you to easily file these important documents electronically for future reference.  Further, you will be able to access these bills wherever you have access to your e-mail and will avoid any delays incurred by regular postage.

The Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) provides assessment values on each property to our office. The County provides the municipality with their tax rate once their budget is passed; the province sets the education rate. Once the municipal budget is passed, the tax amount is calculated by multiplying the property's assessment value by these three tax rates.

MPAC has created a property assessment and taxation digital toolkit to help property owners learn more about Ontario’s property assessment and taxation system.

All correspondence, including reminder notices, are sent through Canada Post regular mail or email (by property owner's request). It is the property owner's responsibility to ensure the Township has the correct mailing address. Failure to receive a tax bill does not remove responsibility for payment by the due date. Penalty and interest charges will be incurred for late payments based on the Township's Collection Policy. 

To change the ownership of a property, the Township requires:

• A copy of the Transfer/Deed showing the changes as filed with the Registry or Land Titles Office
• Information from the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) showing the changes

You can contact our Tax Department upon closing of the transaction. 

Failure to receive a tax bill does not exempt the property owner from the Township's Collection Policy. 

Payments must reach our offices before the instalment due dates to avoid penalty or interest charges. Payments received are applied to the oldest outstanding balance first. There are a number of payment options available for your taxes.

Property Tax Relief for Low Income Seniors and Low Income Persons with Disabilities within the County of Peterborough - Applications and evidence of benefits being received under the Family Benefits Act, the Ontario Disability Support Program Act, 1997 and/or the Old Age Security Act (Canada) or Canadian Pension Plan Disabilities Pension may be filed by eligible individuals with the Treasurer of your local municipality by November 15. Eligible property owners are entitled to a grant provided that the said tax increase for any single years exceeds $100.00, to a maximum relief of up to $200.00, which the Municipal Treasurer may approve or deny.

2. County, set by the County of Peterborough; and the
3. Province (education tax rate), set by the Province of Ontario
