Fire and Life Safety Education
- Fire and Life Safety Education is by far the most effective method of preventing injuries and death due to fire or other types of emergencies.
- For a fire to occur it requires heat, fuel and oxygen and something to bring it all together. The something is usually a person. Education helps to eliminate the person aspect of the equation.
- By focusing on behavior modification education we can change people's belief's or attitudes about fire.
- The department educates people at the schools at a young age about the threat of fire and how or where the threats exist in the environment.
- Educating the public how to act before accidents occur on how to react during an emergency can make emergency operations easier.
The Township of Asphodel-Norwood educates and protects its citizens by:
- School and pre-school visits by fire personnel
- Fire Station Tours
- Information booths at the following events:
- Showcase Asphodel-Norwood
- Canada Day
- Halloween - open house and information booth
- Halloween - patrol in rural areas
- Norwood Fair - information booth and First Aid Station
- General safety inquiries from public
