Parking

The Township of Asphodel-Norwood has a By-law for the Regulation of Traffic and Parking on Highways and Roadways. Refer to the Most Frequently Requested By-laws page.

Municipal Parking Lots in the Township of Asphodel-Norwood:

  • Norwood Foodland (4 County Rd 40)
  • 42 Victoria St (formerly known as Begg Fuels parking lot)
  • Hwy 7 (across from Victoria St & Elm St)
  • 1203 Asphodel 7th Line (just South of River Road)

No person shall at any time park a vehicle in the following areas:

  1. On Mill Street from King Street to Asphodel 10th Line
  2. On Oak Street from Spring Street to Highway 7
  3. On County Road 40 from Wellington to Ridge Street
  4. On Old Orchard Road from Asphodel 10th Line to County Road 45
  5. The north side of King Street from Flora Street to Mill Street
  6. The south side of Queen Street from Flora Street to Alma Street
  7. The South-east side of Flora Street from King Street up to and including the turn around
  8. Asphodel Heights Boat Launch
  9. Birdsall Wharf Boat Launch and turn around
  10. Old Orchard Road Boat Launch
  11. Spring Street from Oak Street to County Road 45
  12. Oak Street from Highway 7 to Spring Street
  13. Pine Street from Highway 7 to Spring Street
  14. South side of Ridge Street from Pine Street to County Road 40 (winter only)
  15. North side of Robert Road from Pine Street up to and including the cul-de-sac/turnaround
  16. East side of Murray Street from Robert Road up to and including the cul-de-sac/turnaround
  17. On Pine Street from Highway 7 to Robert Road
  18. On the north and south side of Hwy No. 7 in front of properties known as 4293 and 4309 Highway 7

No person shall at any time park a vehicle in the following areas:

19. Asphodel-Norwood Community Centre: 88 Alma Street, Norwood

  • Along the entire front of the building
  • Right side of building on left side of the access road allowing access to Fire Department standpipe attachment 

20. Norwood Fire Hall: 27 Alma Street, Norwood

  • Along entire Front paved area of the facility

21. Alma Street

  • On the left side of Alma Street between King and Queen Streets. (Only activated by Township of Asphodel-Norwood Staff during Norwood Fair or a special event on the Fair Grounds to ensure parking for Fire Fighters during an emergency at Norwood Fire Station (and)
  • Between King Street and County Road 42 on the right side of Alma Street to ensure access to all areas of fair grounds by emergency apparatus

22. Norwood Town Hall: 2357 County Road 45, Norwood

  • On the left side of the facility on the right side of the access road between County Road 45 and Victoria Street
  • This will not affect tenant parking on the left side of the access road used by the building next door. They shall retain the existing parking areas

23. Asphodel-Norwood Public Works Facility: 4440 Highway 7, Norwood

  • On driveway on the (Front) of Facility retaining all existing parking spots located on the left side of the driveway

24. Dry Hydrant at Alma Street

  • 3 metres in front of the Dry Hydrant extending into the parking lot

25. Dry Hydrant at Old Orchard Road Boat Launch

  • 3 metres in front of the Dry Hydrant b. Allows use of the boat launch but restricts parking immediately in front of the Dry Hydrant

26. Dry Hydrant at 6th Line South

  • All area between Varga Line and the Trent River on the 6th Line

27. Dry Hydrant at Asphodel Park

  • Asphodel 3rd line from the entrance of Asphodel Park to County Road 2

28. Westwood Fire Station. 1818 3rd Line of Asphodel

  • South side of facility including south Entrance to Historical Society and including the Fire Hall

29. Westwood Library: 312 Centre Line of Asphodel

  • Area in front of ramp entrance and main stairs adjacent to Centre Line

30. All Hydrants within the boundaries of the Township of Asphodel-Norwood

  • 3 metres in front of every Hydrant

1. St. Paul’s Catholic Elementary School: 55 Oak St, Norwood

  • 3 metres directly in front of fire department standpipe connection

2. Norwood Public School: 24 Flora Street, Norwood

  • At front right side of facility - 3 metres in front of the Fire Department standpipe connection

3. Norwood District High School: 44 Elm St, Norwood

  • At rear corner of cafeteria - 3 metres in front of the Fire Department standpipe connection

4. Pleasant Meadow Manor: 99 Alma Street, Norwood

  • At front left of facility at Fire Department 3 metres at the standpipe connection
  • Will not affect the existing parking on the east of the same location

5. Maple View Retirement Home: 2281 County Road 45, Norwood

  • Front right driveway on south wing to allow access to Fire Department standpipe connection
  • In front of North Wing already identified as Emergency Parking Only
  • Both locations will not affect established parking sites

6. J.J. Stewart Motors: 2289 8th Line of Asphodel

  • 3 metres in front of the existing Dry Hydrant Connection

7. Peterborough Housing: 53 Spring Street, Norwood

  • Both east and west driveways but not affecting existing parking spaces

  • Section 3.2 - Snow removal

No person shall park a vehicle on any highway, parts of a highway or sides of highway marked by signs prohibiting its use for parking until snow thereon is removed. This section is to apply where any such highway is so marked for snow removal.

  • Section 3.6.8 - No person shall stop a vehicle in any of the following locations

On any highway in such a manner as to obstruct or impede the removal of snow from the highway between October 15th and May 15th, inclusive.

  • Section 4 - Seasonal parking prohibition

No person shall park any vehicle on any of the highways or roadways, between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., between the 15th day of October to the 15th day of May, inclusive. 

  • Section 8 - Removal of illegally parked vehicles

In addition to any other penalties prescribed herein a Police Officer, Police Cadet, Provincial Offences Officer, or a Municipal Law Enforcement Officer may cause a vehicle parked or left in contravention of this by-law to be moved or taken to and placed or stored in a licensed compound and all costs and charges for removing, care and storage, if any, are a a lien against the said vehicle which may be enforced in the manner provided by the Repair and Storage Liens Act, R.S.O. 1990, Chap. R25, as amended.

  • County Roads

Pursuant to Parking Regulation By-law No. 2023-26, overnight parking is prohibited on County Roads from the 15th day of October to the 15th day of May, inclusive, between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. Vehicles can/will be ticketed or towed during this time.
