- Mondays 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
- Wednesdays 4:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. (May 1-October 1 ONLY)
Holiday Hours
The Transfer Station will be open all Statutory and Public Holidays with the exception of Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
- Now accepting empty liquor/wine bottles
- Recycling, household waste, leaf and yard, scrap metals, bulky items, construction and demolition material, and electronics will be accepted
- Debit or Interac payment only
- Only clear garbage bags will be accepted for household waste
- New Reuse bin available for bulky items (see drop-down below)
- Gates close sharp at posted final hour – no exceptions
We encourage residents to utilize the curbside pickup services available.
The Asphodel-Norwood Transfer Station is open to Asphodel-Norwood residents (photo identification is required). Please be courteous to the Transfer Station staff.
Blue Box Recycling is also available at the Transfer Station. Please sort your recycling prior to dropping it off.
Household Hazardous Waste can contain toxins that are harmful to waste collectors and the environment.
Please take proper measures to dispose of these materials at the City/County Household Hazardous Waste Facility, located at 400 Pido Road, Peterborough.
The Township of Asphodel-Norwood has a mattress recycling program at the Transfer Station site.
Mattresses are collected and stored in a dry container where later they are reloaded by Township staff and shipped to the Peterborough Waste Management Facility (located at 1260 Bensfort Rd. in Peterborough). The mattresses are then loaded into tractor trailers, where they are then taken to a recycle facility.
The cost to dispose of a mattress is $25.00 per piece.
Rather than placing unwanted bulky items in the disposal bins, a dedicated bin is available for reusable items. Items deemed unacceptable for reuse by the Transfer Station Attendant will require a tipping fee for disposal.

- Wood Furniture
- Desks
- Dressers
- Tables
- Chairs
- Windows
- Doors
- Toys
If you have an item not listed above, please check with the attendant.
Placing items in this bin helps the environment by not adding to the Peterborough Waste Management Facility (located at 1260 Bensfort Rd. in Peterborough) and allows another person to make use out of your unwanted item.
There is no charge for collecting items from this section.
Used tires can be dropped off at the Transfer Station free of charge (with or without rims).
Please be prepared to check in with the Transfer Station attendant and notify them of how many tires are being dropped off.
