A-N Community Centre Playground

Please refer to the Parks and Facilities By-law (AMENDED) for a list of permitted activities (including rentals) along with the rules and regulations that govern use of Township parks and related facilities.  In 2022, the Parks, Recreation, and Facilities Department commenced its second five-year Parks & Playground Plan to maintain and enhance the park and playground spaces around the Township to ensure sustainability and continued enjoyment by all residents.

Parks & Picnic Areas within Asphodel-Norwood

Description: Located off of the 3rd Line of Asphodel in the built up area known as Asphodel Heights, this secluded little park is a perfect setting to sit back and watch boat traffic and relax or just play along the Trent River.

Description: Asphodel Park is a real jewel in the township. With the Ouse river going through the corner of the park it makes for an idyllic setting to relax, have a picnic, catch up on your reading, perhaps try your luck at fishing or just let the kids explore and play.

Description: If you are seeking activities and fitness for all ages then the Community Centre Park located by the Arena and the Fair Grounds is where you will want to be. Book a date, reserve a time, everything you need is right here.  On a journey and need a place to park your trailer for the night before your next day of travel, then stop at the Community Centre Park area as hydro and water hookups are available to you right next to the park.

Description: A small jewel located in the heart of Norwood. This park is a great spot to just stop and unwind, perhaps have lunch from one the many establishments in Norwood or just a spot to take a break and catch up on your reading.

Description: Are you looking to explore the Trans Canada Trail system? This park is a great spot to park your vehicle, just a few steps and you're ready to begin your journey.

Description: Located in the heart of Norwood, beside the Mill Pond, it's a great spot to stop and catch your breath when travelling. Whether you're sitting and pondering, looking across the pond or taking a peak at the Butterfly garden, this will be the spot for you to catch up before continuing your journey.

Description: Located in Norwood Park Estates subdivision, it's a great spot to stretch your legs and enjoy the brand new playground, named after Terry C. McIlwain for his significant contributions to the subdivision development.

Description: Located in the hamlet of Westwood, right next to the Westwood library, this park has lots of open green space for you and your kids. Also home to the Westwood cenotaph it's a spot to remember why we have areas like this to enjoy today.

Note: Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit does regular testing of beaches in Northumberland County, Haliburton County, and the City of Kawartha Lakes to ensure they are safe for swimming. Visit the HKPR District Health Unit website to view test results between the months of June and August.

Note: Peterborough Public Health maintains a routine surveillance program for public beaches during summer months to ensure that the water quality is safe for swimming. Visit the Peterborough Public Health website to view beach testing results.
