The construction staff returned in early May of 2023 to finish the remainder of the work including landscaping and equipment installation.
The All-Wheels park officially opened July 1, 2023. The new addition to the Community Centre Park has been well received with people from all over Ontario coming to check out Asphodel-Norwood’s NEW All-Wheels Park. Whether you have a skateboard, scooter, BMX bike, or roller blades, this is the park for you.

Cultural & Heritage Report is completed and available (see below attachment).

Consultation with First Nations has begun and will continue over the next few months.
Once the consultation period has concluded the design process can be finalized.
Construction is expected in 2024

In the summer of 2022, public consultation was completed with the children of our community choosing Option #2 for the new playground structure at Asphodel Park.

The structure was ordered in 2022, but due to supply shortages was not expected to arrive until 2023.

The structure arrived in the middle of July 2023 and was installed by Playground Planners. Once installation was complete, Township Staff spread playground mulch and topsoil around the borders of the park.
Asphodel Park is known as a hidden gem locally, but is now an even bigger hit amongst visitors with the brand new playground structure in place.

Design and tendering has been completed for the replacement of a large diameter culvert on Asphodel 6th Line between County Rd 2 and River Rd.

Construction is expected to begin October 2023 with anticipated completion November 2023.

Please refer to Municipal511 for road closure updates.

The Fitness Centre opened March 20, 2023 and is now operating in its seventh month.
Staff put in place a three-month trial period for the Fitness Centre operating 24 hours per day. After reviewing the three-month trial period, it was decided to continue operating the Fitness Centre 24/7.

The Construction of the shelter started in July and completion of the shelter occurred in early August, 2023.
Two (2) picnic tables have been added to the shelter and this provides families with some shade while their kids enjoy the playground.

With the opening of the New All-Wheels Park, staff were provided with an opportunity to add another recreational opportunity within the Community Centre Park.
Staff elected to put in a Pickleball Court due to the popularity of the sport and the high demand.
Staff were fortunate enough to be able to reuse the surface of the old skate park for the installation of a Pickleball Court. A fence was added to provide a barrier between the All-Wheels Park and the Pickleball Court for participant safety.
The court has seen use from the public and is quickly becoming a popular addition to the Park.
